Reading Barry Hannah is like listening to the fastest talker you’ve ever heard in your life. He’s also the funniest author of ever read.

This use to be a book based blog. I think at one time I was featured in some book category here on tumblr. I use to post reviews, quotes, author portraits, and book culture items of some sort. Although my blog has morphed into, ummmmm, I’m really not sure what it is anymore, I still read daily. I’m still just as immersed in literature as I once was. 2012 has been completely different, with regards to my reading habits, I’ve only read Fantasy novels. Over the years I’ve heard a lot about Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. The series will come to an end this year, finished by the great Brandon Sanderson. I thought over the next few years why not make my way through the epic fourteen book series. I love the epic in anything, and just a hundred pages into The Eye of the World, epic is an understatement.

What this post I hope will illustrate is that I still read, and I’m really a fourteen year old boy.

I don’t listen to Christmas music at home during the month of December. Part of the reason why, is I don’t like it. No really the reason why is, I’m required to listen to it, through my works sound system for the entire month of December, some 45-50 hours a week. My girls like it though, so there’s not entire embargo, on Nat King Cole but lately I’ve been listening to Oneohtrix Point Never’s Replica. Not the kind of music you’d put on if you had over some dinner guests. But late at night, while, tumbling around tumblr, or while reading Lev Grossman’s The Magicians I’ve had this album on repeat through my headphones.

Murakamimania, is about to hit North America in five days. We’re kind of in a Eugenidesmania, currently. Which I’ve been a part of. Never a fan of buying hardcover books, but I thought The Marriage Plot would be worth the investment. I was right, it’s a wonderful book, enjoyed my time with it.

I’ve decided against getting involved with Murakamimania, until the mania has died down. I have my reasons for doing so, the reasons being really boring, and uninspired. Instead of Murakamimania (promise I won’t say Murakamaimania again, damn it!) I’ve decided to go with the legend of American literature, Herman Melville’s Moby Dick or, The Whale. In doing so I purchased this lovely to look at edition. My other copy was small, the print tiny. Those of you that follow this blog (all twenty of you) know this is my second go around with The Whale. I’ll be happy to inform you (Casey nobody cares) this go around is going really well. I’m a more committed reader this time around. There’s a certain cadence with Moby Dick. It’s tricky, Melville didn’t screw around. I’m so glad he didn’t, it’s just on another level then other literature of it’s time, or any time.

That’s really all I have to say. Hope everyone is doing great, I’ll be through the doors of Powell’s in like two sleeps. Life is pretty good. Stay classy.
