We met in high school, in Grade 11. I think I was seventeen she was sixteen. I was new to the school. Coming to a new school in high school was not easy. I tried out for the soccer team and made it. I became friends with one of the best soccer players in town. He was incredible, had such good vision all over the field. My wife was in the cool crowd. The ones you wanted to hate, but the ones you so wanted to be a part of. My first memory of my wife was at some assembly of some sort. She had come up to my friend and I. I think she said something like “so you’re the new kid”. I may be completely wrong about that. Maybe a memory I’ve transposed into a film scene. A few days later she showed up at my friends place while we were playing hoops. I was horrible at basketball. But I loved all sports, so I tried. We talked, shuffled our feet, smiled. I think I asked her if she wanted a ride home. I had a truck, a parents hand me down. Man I loved that truck, anyways. I think we hungout for awhile at her place and I asked her if she wanted to be my boyfriend. WoW, I haven’t thought about that for a long time. Sorry for the long winded answer.
